Frequently Asked Questions
This page answers the most common questions about the Self-Sustainable City—what it is, how it works, and how you can participate. The goal is clarity, honesty, and simplicity.
Understanding the Project
What exactly is the Self-Sustainable City?
The Self-Sustainable City is not a conventional real estate project. It is a living model for a simpler, more independent way of life. The focus is on securing basic needs—food, energy, shelter, and well-being—locally and naturally, so people are less dependent on unstable systems.
It is a practical approach to sustainable living, not an ideology or a promise of luxury.
How can I participate in the project?
Participation follows a clear, step-by-step process designed to be flexible and pressure-free. You can move forward at your own pace.
For a detailed walkthrough, please visit our Work Process page. If you ever feel unsure, you can contact us directly and we’ll guide you.
How are you different from regular real estate developers?
We do not operate like traditional builders whose primary goal is profit.
This initiative is part of a broader vision led by Ramakrishna Surathu, focused on self-reliance, sustainability, and personal freedom. We do not push sales, create artificial urgency, or lock people into debt-heavy models.
Our role is to guide, coordinate, and support—not control.
What makes your approach transparent and trustworthy?
We practice radical transparency, which is rare in real estate:
- We openly disclose our Developer Margin, so you know exactly how much we earn.
- There are no hidden charges or surprise fees.
- Payments are released in flexible stages, without pressure.
- We do not force bank loans, EMIs, or financial commitments.
You always know where your money goes and why.
Many similar projects exist. What truly sets this apart?
What we offer is freedom without interference.
We do not impose beliefs, labels, lifestyles, or philosophies. Instead, we create physical and social conditions where you can live, build, and grow according to your own understanding.
It is not just about houses or land—it is about returning control of life back to the individual.
Sustainability and Design
How does sustainability shape your homes?
Sustainability is not an add-on—it is the foundation.
- In urban-style developments, this includes solar energy, rainwater harvesting, recyclable materials, and climate-sensitive design.
- In rural-style developments, we go further by integrating food forests, natural farming, and off-grid systems.
The goal is long-term self-reliance, not short-term efficiency.
What sustainable features are included?
Our projects follow a practical, nature-aligned approach:
- Renewable energy systems
- Natural water management
- Low-impact construction materials
- Food-growing systems designed to be low-maintenance
Each home is designed to support both people and the land over time.
Ownership, Costs, and Payments
How can I own a home in one of your projects?
You can begin by visiting the Own a Home page, where we explain the available options and next steps.
If anything feels unclear, you are always welcome to contact us directly.
Do you offer loans or financing support?
We encourage debt-free living as a core principle.
We do not provide loans or assist with bank financing. If you choose to take a loan, it must be arranged independently.
For land purchases, full payment is made directly to the landowner, as land is owned by third parties and not by our firm.
How do you charge for your services?
We charge a clearly defined Developer’s Share, calculated as a transparent percentage of the total project cost.
This covers:
- Project coordination
- Construction work
- Farm and food-forest development
- Overall planning and oversight
Importantly:
- We do not hold or manage your funds.
- Payments are made directly by you to landowners, suppliers, and workers.
- We approve payments only after quality checks.
This ensures control stays with you.
Can I visit the site before committing?
Yes. You can explore available locations and current development progress by visiting the Own a Home page.
Community and Lifestyle
Is this a community or an individual living model?
It is both.
Each home is designed for independence—with its own food, energy, and water systems. At the same time, a natural community forms among people who share similar values.
There is no forced collectivism or dependency—only voluntary cooperation.
How is this a community-driven initiative?
The project is open, voluntary, and replicable.
The founder initiated the vision and remains actively involved, but everything is designed to be transparent and shareable. We openly publish our processes, costs, and methods. There are no forced loans, hidden rules, or closed systems.
People are free to participate in ways that suit them—as residents, contributors, learners, builders, or advocates.
